Welcome to Gray's Farmhouse B&B!

Gray's Farmhouse B&B, the former shooting lodge of Mapperton Manor, is set in a maze of paths through ancient untouched woodland and wildflower meadows rich in wildlife.

Tiny flower-bordered lanes and a long track bring you into the courtyard of the honey-coloured house, far from passing traffic.

Guests are welcomed on arrival with tea and home-made cake in the garden, weather and time of day permitting: there is a choice of sitting areas on the guest lawns, perfect for unwinding after the journey!

There is a large expanse of level grass adjoining woodland, ideal for ball games or to sit and catch the last of the evening sun.

Please don't expect an immaculate garden. Some years a great deal of effort goes into it. At other times a combination of family commitments, weather, travel and painting means that it has a distinctly wilder look. 2010 has been one such year! So this last summer we enjoyed all the things that self-seed, and felt very blessed to have them!

We are always pleased when guests explore the grounds, since we think they are what make Gray's Farmhouse special.

Gray's Farm adjoins 2 nature reserves, 3 SSSIs, and the estates of Mapperton Manor and Wytherston, all criss-crossed by a network of footpaths that include the near by Jubilee Trail and the Wessex Ridgeway. We love advising guests on our favourite walks from home, whether just a short rural circuit or a day out on Eggardon Hill or to Mapperton Manor, near Beaminster, with its magnificent Italianate water gardens nestling into the surrounding countryside.
